Rider Safety Guide
Rider Safety Guide
Please read this before the first ride and go over it with your rider. The kart is a real electric vehicle, not a toy car, and safe use depends on the adult in charge.
Who can ride
Riders aged 6 and up, weighing 150 lb or less. The rider must be able to reach the pedals comfortably and understand throttle, brake and steering before riding.
Required on every ride
A properly fitted helmet. The 5-point seat belt, buckled and snug. An adult present and watching the whole time. Closed-toe shoes. Knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended.
Where to ride
Flat, dry, paved private areas such as a driveway, empty parking lot or backyard patio. Keep well away from roads, traffic, driveways that open onto a street, pools, ponds, stairs, drop-offs and slopes. Never ride on public streets, sidewalks or bike paths. Do not ride on wet surfaces, gravel, sand, ice or loose dirt.
Before each ride
Check that the wheels turn freely and the tires are not damaged. Test the brake pedal. Make sure the seat belt latches. Confirm the battery is charged and the battery cover is closed. Clear the riding area of people, pets and objects.
Speed modes
Start every new rider in low-speed mode. Move to high-speed mode only when the rider can steer, brake and stop confidently. The adult sets the mode before the ride begins.
Drifting
Drifting is the kart sliding its rear wheels through a turn. It needs open space. Keep at least 10 feet clear on all sides, and do not drift near walls, curbs, cars or other riders. Only one rider on the kart at a time. No passengers, no towing, no standing on the kart.
Charging and battery
Use only the included charger. Charge indoors on a hard surface, away from anything flammable, and unplug when full. Do not charge overnight unattended. Do not use the kart or charger if the battery, wires or charger show damage. Keep the kart dry. Store indoors at room temperature and charge at least once a month when not in use.
Weather
Do not ride in rain, on wet ground, or in extreme heat or cold. Water can damage the electronics and make the tires slip.
Stop riding immediately if
The kart makes unusual noises, the steering feels loose, the brake feels weak, a wheel wobbles, or anything smells hot. Email support@mydriftkart.com with photos and we will help.
Your responsibility
